Sparta President/ CTO/ Visionary
02/01/1958 – 10/18/2023
The news of John O’Bireck’s death was met with the deepest of shock and sorrow. He truly was a powerful force when at work and while giving back to his community. He is missed by so many.
John left us way too early, but he will never be far from the minds of those who worked with him. We have him to thank for the company that Sparta has become. If you never worked with John, then you have not experienced his remarkable drive and energy. He went full throttle 24/7.
John had an incredibly active and inquiring mind. He was constantly thinking about how to make things better – better for customers, better for employees, better for the planet and better for humankind.
Once known as Sparta Capital Ltd. a small public company with an idea, John created Sparta Group, a collection of divisions and companies focused on environmental and human health. When John could envision a hint of success, he would chase the opportunity to try to make it something great, even if it meant taking a path that no one else would consider. Thinking “out of the box” was what helped him move the company forward. To be blunt, Sparta Group as it is today, wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for John O’Bireck.
John was passionate about the environment and leaving behind a better world for his children and grandchildren. His vision came about for one simple reason, he cared about people. John believed that to succeed in life, you had to know how to treat others. His management team, staff, customers, and business partners understood his caring nature and respected him for it.
It is frustrating that John was called from this world just as the company was entering its next phase. He worked tirelessly to lay a strong foundation so that the company could include both environmental and health technologies, as well as take advantage of new opportunities made possible by Web3.
John lost an intense battle with pancreatic cancer at a time when he was focusing more and more on developing technologies to improve health outcomes. He was convinced that advanced technology could drive healthcare more than any other force.
The seeds of John’s imagination and passion are now growing. We are determined not to let him down, so we forge ahead to finish what he started.
